How to use
- Choose the problem type (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division or times tables) and level. You can also change the digits, carrying and remainder settings yourself.
- Set the number of problems, the worksheet title, how many problems per row and the spacing, and keep “Also make an answer key” on if you need one.
- Press [Make worksheet] to see the A4 preview. For different problems, press [New problems].
- Download with [Download worksheet PDF] and [Download answer key PDF], and print on A4 paper at actual size (100%).
Example
For a child who has just learned carrying, choose “Addition” and “Normal” (two digits + two digits), set carrying to “With” and make 20 problems. Mark the work with the answer key, and the next day press [New problems] to print new problems with the same settings. To give a whole class the same sheet, note the worksheet code and make it again with that code.
Default settings by level
| Type | Easy | Normal | Hard |
|---|---|---|---|
| Addition | 1 digit + 1 digit, no carrying | 2 digits + 2 digits | 3 digits + 3 digits, with carrying |
| Subtraction | 1 digit − 1 digit, no borrowing | 2 digits − 1–2 digits | 3 digits − 2–3 digits, with borrowing |
| Multiplication | 2 digits × 1 digit | 3 digits × 1 digit | 2–3 digits × 2 digits |
| Division | 2 digits ÷ 1 digit, exact | 2–3 digits ÷ 1 digit, with remainders | 3–4 digits ÷ 2 digits, with remainders |
| Times tables | 2, 3 and 5 | 2 to 6 | 2 to 9 |
Problems are made fresh by fixed rules and are not copied from textbooks or workbooks. Adjust the digits and settings to suit the child.
Supported formats, limits and privacy
- Problem types: addition and subtraction (with, without or any carrying/borrowing), multiplication, division (exact or with remainders) and times tables (2 to 9). 1 to 200 problems at a time.
- Digit ranges: addition and subtraction 1–6 digits; multiplication first number 1–4 digits and second 1–3 digits; division dividend 1–5 digits and divisor 1–2 digits (2 or more). Zero is not used in problems and subtraction never gives a negative result.
- The levels (easy, normal, hard) are combinations of digits and carrying settings. They are not matched exactly to a particular school year, so adjust the settings to the child.
- The same worksheet code with the same settings gives the same problems again (the numbers are the same in every language); leave the code empty or press [New problems] for new ones. Problems are not repeated within one worksheet, and if the settings allow too few problems you are told how many are possible.
- The PDF is A4 portrait (210×297mm) with vector text, so it prints sharply and the text can be searched and copied. It splits into pages as needed, with a small page number, worksheet code and credit (Made with ToolMoru · toolmoru.com) in the bottom margin. No ads are added.
- Font: a worksheet font made from Pretendard (SIL Open Font License 1.1; notice at /licenses/THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt). You are told if the title has characters the font does not include.
- Problems and PDFs are made in your browser; settings and titles are not sent to a server.
Frequently asked questions
Can I make addition problems that all need carrying?
Choose addition and set “Carrying” to “With”: every problem then carries in at least one column. “Without” gives only problems with no carrying at all. Borrowing in subtraction works the same way.
Can I print the same worksheet again?
Enter the 6-character worksheet code printed at the bottom of the sheet, keep the same settings and press [Make worksheet]: the same problems come back in the same order. The numbers are the same even if you use the Korean or Japanese page.
The printed size does not look right.
The PDF is made at actual A4 size. In the print settings choose “Actual size” or 100% scale and turn off “Fit to page”. Printing on paper other than A4 changes the margins.
