Merge PDF

Combine several PDFs into one, in your order.

🔒 Your files are never uploaded to a server. They are processed only in your browser.

Drag PDF files here or click to selectPDF, up to 20 files

How to use

  1. Select two or more PDF files. The page count of each file is shown next to it.
  2. Set the merge order with the ↑ ↓ buttons. The file at the top of the list becomes the first pages of the result.
  3. Check the total number of pages and click [Merge].
  4. Download the finished PDF.

Example

When you need to bundle "application.pdf", "id-copy.pdf" and "bank-statement.pdf" into one file for submission, select the three files, arrange them in the order the documents are required, and merge them. If you first need to make a PDF from scanned photos, use Images to PDF, and to take only certain pages out of the merged document, use Extract & Split PDF Pages.

Supported formats, limits and privacy

  • Input: PDF. Up to 100 MB per file, up to 20 files, and up to 2,000 pages in total after merging.
  • PDFs that are password-protected or have editing restrictions, and damaged PDFs, are rejected with a reason when you add them to the list. Documents issued with editing restrictions only (files that open without entering a password) may also fall under this. This tool does not bypass protection, so please use an unprotected copy of a file you have permission to edit.
  • The total size of the files you merge can be up to 200 MB. If processing takes longer than 10 seconds, it is stopped and you are notified.
  • Text, images and shapes on the pages are copied as they are. Annotations that were visible on screen, such as form field values and stamps, remain only as the appearance saved in the PDF, as part of the page content. Interactive form features, notes, attached files, bookmarks, links within the document and document information (title, author, etc.) are removed from the result (links to external web addresses are kept). Form values that have no saved appearance are not kept. However, when the document specifies that the "form appearance should be redrawn", a viewer redraws it from the entered value rather than from the saved appearance. So a single-line value of English letters and digits (when the font is confirmed to draw those characters as they are) gets a new appearance generated from the entered value. If there are characters other than English letters and digits (such as Korean or Japanese), multi-line values, password fields, choices that have a separate display name, or fonts that cannot be verified, no result is created and the reason is shown, so that no wrong value is included. PDFs that use hidden layers (optional content), PDFs whose structure is damaged so they cannot be checked to the end or that exceed the limits this device can process safely, and PDFs whose form values cannot be carried over exactly (including cases where a field marked "Invisible" has a value or appearance, so that whether it is visible depends on the viewer) are not processed; no result is created and the reason is shown (because merging would lose the layer information and could reveal hidden content). A rejected file is reported together with its name. Digital signatures are not preserved.
  • Limitations: This tool merges, extracts and rotates the pages of the PDFs you select. It does not guarantee the complete removal of hidden information or information you did not select (sanitizing confidential information). Because merging uses every page of each file, it does not separately clean up resources such as images that are never drawn. The font subsets and character mappings (ToUnicode) used by the pages may contain the character set of the whole document, and the glyphs of fonts that store character shapes as drawings (Type3), the shared symbol dictionary of scanned documents (JBIG2), and the names of layers used by the result pages may also remain. A crafted PDF that uses non-standard references to pull in images or document information from other pages may not be filtered out completely. For non-public documents, check the result yourself before sharing it.
  • With large files or many pages, processing on a phone may take a long time or fail because of insufficient memory.
  • All processing happens inside your browser, and files are not uploaded to a server. The PDF processor (qpdf, WebAssembly) is downloaded the first time you add a file in a PDF tool, and the browser cache is used after that.

Frequently asked questions

I want to change the order after merging.

Change the order with the ↑ ↓ buttons in the list and click [Merge] again. Your original files are not changed.

It says the PDF is password-protected.

PDFs with an open password or editing restrictions cannot be processed. If it is a file you have permission to edit, get an unprotected file again from whoever issued it, or use a copy whose protection was removed by a method you are authorized to use.

How do I merge only some pages of a file?

First use the page extraction tool to make a new PDF containing only the pages you need, then merge.
