How to use
- Choose the kind of QR code: link (URL) or Wi-Fi.
- For a link, enter the address (https:// is added if you leave it out). For Wi-Fi, enter the network name (SSID), password and security type, and tick the box if the network is hidden.
- If needed, change the foreground and background colours, the saved size (256, 512 or 1024px) and the error correction level (default M). A warning appears when the contrast is low.
- Check the preview and press [Save PNG] or [Save SVG]. Scan it once with your phone camera before you use it.
Supported formats, limits and privacy
- Links must be http:// or https:// web addresses. Other formats such as phone, SMS or email are not supported.
- The maximum content (UTF-8 bytes) depends on the error correction level: L 2,953 · M 2,331 · Q 1,663 · H 1,273 bytes. Non-Latin characters take 2 to 4 bytes each. Longer content makes a denser pattern that is harder to read when printed small.
- The Wi-Fi name (SSID) can be at most 32 bytes. Wi-Fi QR codes use the widely used WIFI: format (security WPA/WPA2/WPA3, WEP or none), and the special characters \ ; , : " are escaped as the format requires. Enterprise (802.1X) authentication is not supported.
- The saved size is 256, 512 or 1024px. Each module is a whole number of pixels and the rest becomes margin (at least 4 modules). SVG stays sharp at any size.
- Whether a code scans depends on the phone, camera app, print quality and colour contrast. This tool does not guarantee that it reads everywhere, so scan it yourself before sharing or printing.
- The link and Wi-Fi details you enter are turned into a QR code only inside this browser. They are not sent to a server or stored, and they disappear when you close the page.
Frequently asked questions
Does scanning a Wi-Fi QR code connect right away?
Most recent phones ask whether to join the network when the built-in camera reads a Wi-Fi QR code. Support still depends on the model, operating system version and camera app, and older devices may need a separate app.
Which error correction level should I choose?
Higher levels (L → M → Q → H) are more likely to read when part of the code is covered or dirty, but the same content makes a denser pattern and less content fits. The default M is enough for screens and clean prints. Consider Q or H for stickers and other places where the code may get damaged.
Do these QR codes expire?
This tool makes static QR codes that hold the link or Wi-Fi details directly, so they have no expiry and do not go through any server. If the linked page disappears or you change the Wi-Fi password, make a new QR code.
