How to use
- Paste the text to clean into the Original box.
- Choose the rules to apply (spaces at line ends, repeated spaces, duplicate lines) and how to handle blank lines. Only the rules you choose are applied.
- The Result box and the summary (lines changed and removed) update right away. On a computer the original and the result are shown side by side.
- [Copy result] copies the cleaned text, and [Clear] erases the text you entered (your chosen rules are kept).
Supported formats, limits and privacy
- If you choose no rules, the result is identical to the original, character for character. Rules you do not choose never change your text.
- Spaces means spaces, tabs, full-width spaces and similar. The repeated-spaces rule turns a run of two or more spaces into a single space and leaves a single tab as it is.
- A blank line is a line that is empty or contains only spaces. "Keep one of consecutive blank lines" keeps only the first of each run of blank lines.
- Removing duplicate lines keeps only the first of lines that are exactly the same and does not change the order. It is case-sensitive by default. Blank lines are not checked for duplicates and follow the blank-line rule. To treat lines that differ only in leading or trailing spaces as the same, also choose the rule for spaces at line ends.
- Line breaks are normalized to LF (\n) by the text box when you paste, so the result uses LF line breaks. Windows line breaks (CRLF) become LF.
- Up to 200,000 characters are cleaned at a time. Split longer text into parts.
- Your text is cleaned only in this browser. It is not sent to a server or stored, and it disappears when you close the page.
Frequently asked questions
Does it change my original text?
The text in the Original box stays as it is; the cleaned text appears only in the Result box. If you do not like it, change or clear the rules and the result is rebuilt right away.
Which line is kept when duplicates are removed?
When the same line appears more than once, the first one is kept and the later ones are removed. The remaining lines stay in their original order. If you choose to ignore case, Apple and apple are treated as the same line.
What do lines changed and lines removed count?
Lines changed are lines that remain but whose content changed because spaces were cleaned up. Lines removed are blank or duplicate lines that were left out of the result.
